Minister Responds to Civil Society Concerns
The Parliamentary Secretary of the Cabinet Office, Julia Lopez MP, has responded to civil society organisations who expressed their concern in a joint-letter following the news the UK had been placed ‘under review’ by the Open Government Partnership.
In the reply letter, Minister Lopez says she ‘understands’ the concerns of the Open Government Network but states ‘the UK remains deeply committed to upholding the core values of transparency, accountability and public participation.’ Minister Lopez also commits to a ‘broader, more open public consultation’ and an event to ‘discuss concerns.’
People and organisations are now being invited to share their thoughts on the letter via the UK OGN forum which can be joined free of charge.
