NAP 5 – Open Health – Wk4 – Readout
As part of the co-creation process of the UK’s fifth National Action Plan for Open Government (NAP5), thematic areas agreed to during the Multistakeholder Forum in March 2021 have been turned into biweekly Working Groups. These Working Groups bring together government policy leads and civil society, and are charged with developing commitments for inclusion in NAP5.
The fourth NAP5 Open Health Working Group was held on Tuesday 10th August, 2021 at 14:00 BST. The meeting was co-chaired by civil society and government.
The focus of this meeting was to progress from the previous WG, and begin to triage the ideas into SMART commitments. The following points were discussed:
● Engagement with health transparency leads focusing on clinical trials, Covid-19 data transparency, diversity and inclusion, and the development of Open Science principles.
● Improvement of data interoperability through NHS Data Strategy, and GPDPR.
Next Steps:
● A further meeting will take place with a larger representation from relevant public sector departments and agencies to discuss topics raised by the group.
● Draft commitments will then be drafted and critically evaluated by relevant government departments before further discussion with civil society.
