UK OGN response to Community Cohesion Inquiry published
The submission from the UK Open Government Network (UK OGN) to the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee has been published and it available to view here.
The submission focused on:
- Lack of Trust in Government and Institutions
- Exclusion from Decision-Making
- Misinformation and Social Media Polarisation
- Lack of Transparency and Accountability in Public Spending
Kevin Keith, Chair of the UK Open Government Network, said: “Community cohesion cannot be rebuilt without trust — and trust demands openness. Our submission to the Women and Equalities Committee makes clear that the principles of open government — transparency, accountability, and participation — are not abstract ideals, but drive practical reforms that counter division, disinformation, and exclusion. We urge policymakers to embed these values in the UK’s approach to cohesion, drawing on the wealth of global and domestic best practice already at our fingertips.”
